Dolla Dolla Bills Yallllllll

Goldman ball sachs predcited water will be the “petroleum for the next Century”. No they do not mean there will be a rise in hydrogen fuels (which I will discuss at another time yayyyyyyy), but they mean with its scarcity and demand, the business will boom. Water is liquid gold. Ready for a panic attack? By 2040 it’s predicted most of the world wont be able to meet their water demand year round. Cape Town has already met this marker, their “day zero” where water supplies are turned off and water is rationed at water stations in town. You line up and fill up a jug. But it’s not just Cape Town. Melbourne, Jakarta, London, Beijing, Istanbul, Tokyo, Barcelona, and Mexico City are predicted to reach their day zero in the next few decades. Mexico city is literally sinking. In some areas up to 9 inches per year. They are sucking their underground water supply dry, and as a result the buildings above sink. This underground fresh water, aquifers, took millennia’s to fill up. And they will take millennia’s to fill up again once depleted.

The Earth is a blue planet ben. There’s water everywhere. Shut up.

There’s actually 326 million trillion gallons of water. 97% of that water is salty. 2% Is frozen fresh water. Only 1% is liquid fresh water. The water we want. A majority of that 1% of the water is located deep underground and is expensive to reach. We price and use water as if it’s an infinite resource. And it’s anything but that. Only a small percentage of water is used for consumption. The majority of it is used in agriculture and industry. Making shirts, producing burgers, creating a plastic bottle perhaps. There’s no solution. It’s a rats nest. What happens when water becomes a resource fought over and shipped like oil and gas. I dont know. Who knows. Nothing matters. Were all f#$ked. I’m gonna go drink some water.
